Defending California’s Environmental Protection Laws

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is one of the strongest environmental and public health protection laws in the nation, enabling everyday Californians to influence important land-use decisions that impact their community’s future. Legislative efforts to undermine CEQA’s protections continue as developers and polluters seek to earn quick profits by weakening this landmark law.

Project

Together with the California Environmental Justice Alliance; Center on Race, Poverty and the Environment; Planning and Conservation League; and other leading environmental justice and conservation groups, Public Good PR helped build and continues to manage CEQA Works, a coalition of more than 200 organizations working to keep the California Environmental Quality Act strong. Public Good PR provides a communications roadmap for the group, places op-eds in statewide outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Jose Mercury News, and generates local print and broadcast media stories. We also coordinate and run informational briefings for legislators and other decision-makers, and we help send experts to Sacramento to testify to the need to keep CEQA strong.
